It may seem silly, but Positive Affirmation work.  Tell your mind what you want to believe, and eventually it will be perceived as the truth.  Repetition makes positive affirmations "firm" in your mind.  You are what you believe yourself to be.  All attitudes are learned, so why not learn a posittive attitude?

Top 9 Tips for effective Note Making

1.  Go to all your classes.
2.  Don't eat a big meal or drink alcohol before class.
3.  Review previous notes before class.
4  Be certain to do all required reading before each lecture.
5.  Sit at the FRONT.
6.  Listen actively.  Constantly question, conclude, and anticipate what the instructor is going to say.
7.  Make notes in your own words.  Use the instructor's exact words sparingly and only when essential.
8.  Review notes immediately after class.  Add as much material to your notes as you can.
9.  Don't record your lectures.  It just postpones the real work.  Do it right the first time.

Top 10 Steps to Effective Study Reading:


1. Understand that study reading is slow and detailed.  There is no speed-reading in serious studying.

2. Build a road map of everychapter and book by surveying or previewing it.

3. Read the title and think.

4. Read the table of contents (if it's a book) or introductory paragraphs.  Think about what to expect.

5. Read the Conclusion.

6. Read any summay and review questions.

7. Read all major Headings and Subheadings.

8. Read the first sentence of each paragraph.

9. Examine all pictures and graphs carfully.

10. Before detailed reading, take the material from steps 3 to 9 and think.  Activate all the knowledge you have gaine from your survey.

Top 10 Steps to Completing an ESSAY:


1.  Start early.

2.  Give yourself enough time to do at least two drafts.  Never hand in a first draft.

3.  Divide and conquer.  Follow a plan that divides the work into sevral manageable chunks or stages.

4.  Set a time limit for each stage.

5.  Always brainstorm your ideas before outlining or writing.

6.  Always build a detailed outline before starting to write.

7.  Write your first draft as quickly as you can.  Let the polish come later.

8.  Let the first draft sit for a few days before revising it.

9.  Little things count.  Check spelling and Basic Grammar.

10.  Never hand the essay in late without prior approval.
